The Wine Estate –
The Island of Mariannenaue
Idyllic nature, where daphne flowers blossom and dandelion seeds drift
in the wind – mind, body and soul can relax here. The characteristic
architecture of the landscape is in complete harmony with an untouched
nature and viticulture, a place where Princess Marianne, at the origin
of the Island’s name, found delight.
The Rhine has formed the terroir of this 84 ha large and 4 km long
island over a period of thousands of years. Deep layers of limestone
were swamped with loam from the meadows and mixed with sand and gravel.
Combined with an exceptional micro climate, grape varieties such as
Riesling, Weissburgunder, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc grow exceptionally
well here. The wines taste fresh and fruity and are uncomplicated.
Today, the Island is part of the European Natural Reserve comprising
areas surrounding the Rhine. Upon request at our Wine Estate, you
can be shipped across to the Island and enjoy the wine and tranquillity
of its nature.
